S. Oppenheimer & Co. (Inc.)
This well known firm of Sausage Casing Manufacturers commenced business in New York, U.S.A., in 1868. The New Zealand branch was established in Wellington in 1892; the first factory being at Ngahauranga, where a small staff was employed.
In 1900 a move was made to Petone, and casings have been manufactured in this town since that date.
A staff of sixty is employed during the season, and this very materially increases the finances of the citizens of Petone.
This year, a new and up-to-date casing plant has been erected, which conforms to the highest standard of casing manufacture in any part of the world, both as to health requirements and handling facilities.
