In the matter of Section 134 of the
Municipal Corporations Act, 1933
and
the Borough of Lower Hutt.
To His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand.
May it please Your Excellency—
The humble petition of your petitioners the Lower Hutt Borough Council sheweth:—
1.
That the Borough of Lower Hutt is a duly constituted Borough within the meaning of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933.
2.
That the said Borough has now a population of not less than twenty thousand.
Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that Your Excellency will in pursuance of the powers conferred on you by Section 134 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, proclaim the Borough of Lower Hutt to be a city.
Dated this 15th day of October, 1940.
The Common Seal of the Mayor, Councillors and Burgesses of the Borough of Lower Hutt was hereto affixed this 15th day of October, 1940, in the presence of:
